SALISBURY – John Paul Danielson, 86, of 17 Cobble Road, formerly of West Nyack, N.Y., and Danbury, Conn., died on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003. He was predeceased by his wife, Helene. John was born Jan. 25, 1917, on Staten Island, N.Y., the son of Amanda Bergendahl and Mathias Danielson. He attended schools in Port Richmond S.I. along with courses at NYU and Cornell. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Legion of Merit. He enjoyed 38 successful years with the Exxon Corp., retiring in 1982. John was an avid golfer who also loved playing bridge and poker, refinishing furniture and gardening. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club and past president of both the Ridgefield and Danbury Men’s Club. He is survived by his two daughters, Karen Bagley of Bangor and Nancy Bird of Sharon, Conn.; sons-in-law, Rick and Bob; four grandchildren, Leah and Ian Bagley and Charlie and Liz Bird; two sisters, Edith Swann of San Antonio, Texas, and Ruth Danischewski of Staten Island, N.Y. A memorial service will be held 12 noon Friday, Nov. 28, in the chapel at Noble Horizons, Salisbury, Conn.
