DEXTER – Francis J. Diadone, 80, died Nov. 10, 2003, at a Dexter healthcare facility. He was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Woodland in Washington County, son of James and Elizabeth (Cormier) Diadone. Francis graduated from St. Croix High School in Woodland, Class of 1940. He moved to Dexter in the spring of 1941, serving his apprenticeship in the Fay & Scott Machine Shop and retiring in 1985 after 44 years of continuous service. He was a member of the Dexter Fire Department for 22 years, retiring as captain. He was a past member of the Dexter Planning Board, and was a long-time member of the Dexter Club. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marion, on Oct. 27, 1997; by his parents; a sister, Exilia; and two brothers, Eli and Joseph (Diddy) Diadone. He is survived by a nephew and his wife, Richard and Nancy of Woodland; two sons, Duane Cote of Dexter and Alan Cote of Bradford; two wonderful loving nieces and families of his wife, Christie MacKenzie of Plymouth, and Marion Whalen of Tyringham, Mass.; three grandchildren, Kim, Brenda and Shane Cote; and a close friend, the Rev. John Holliday. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dexter Fire Department.
