BREWER and AUGUSTA – John P. Morrill, 72, died unexpectedly, Dec. 26, 2004, at his home in Augusta. He was born Aug. 23, 1932, in Brewer, the son of Adrian J. and Ruth (Petrie) Morrill. John was a 1950 graduate of John Bapst High School, served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954, and graduated from the Univ. of Maine in 1958. He was an avid sports fan and was pleased to finally see the Patriots win a Super Bowl and the Red Sox win a World Series. Surviving are four children, Steven Morrill and his wife, Wendy, of Old Town, David Morrill and his wife, Cheryl, of Holden, Tracey Pomroy and her husband, Robert, of Glenburn and Belinda Morrill of Old Orchard Beach; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Morrill in 2000. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer with the Rev. Adam Soderberg, pastor of the East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. A committal service with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, at the chapel of the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
