PHOENIX and ORONO – John Philip “Jack” Magill, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, while at hospice in Phoenix. He was born July 23, 1948, in Washington D.C., the son of Philip and Joanne (Robinson) Magill. Jack graduated from Orono High School in 1967. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the Navy where he rose to the rank of E5, hospital corpsman. He spent 10 years in the Navy and was discharged in Jacksonville, N.C., in 1977. He held a variety of jobs ranging from bartending to bait dealer, owner/operator of Clearwater Pool Service, truck driving instructor and security work. He enjoyed country and western music, playing guitar and rooting for his beloved Yankees. He is survived by his father, Philip of Naples, Fla.; his daughter, Chalise Philbrick; grandchildren, Cortney and Christopher Philbrick of Portsmouth, N.H.; brothers and sisters, Sandra (Magill) Lavin and husband, Chris, of Mannheim, Germany, Douglas Magill and wife, Gayle, of Holden, Lynda Magill of Santa Paula, Calif., Chris Magill and wife, Veronica, of Phoenix, and Margaret Ann “Peggy” (Magill) and husband, Alan Spencer, of Wales, U.K.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Joanne (Robinson) Magill. Special thanks to Chris Magill; his wife, Veronica; son, Christopher Thomas; and Anita and Thomas for the love and care of Jack for the last year of his life. Private services will be held for the family.
