FORT FAIRFIELD – John R. Pelletier, 69, died unexpectedly, Sunday, July 17, 2005, at his Fort Fairfield residence. He was born Jan. 1, 1936, at St. Francis, the son of William and Amanda (McPherson) Pelletier. John attended local schools and was married to Ruth Kennedy Hanscomb Dec. 19, 1965, and had been employed by the Town of Fort Fairfield Highway Department for many years, and had also been employed as a truck driver by other area businesses. He was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Perth-Andover, N.B., the Fort Fairfield Fish and Game Club and had been a volunteer fire fighter for Fort Fairfield Fire Department. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by four brothers, Stellman, George, Joe and Alphie Pelletier; five sisters, Irene Pelletier, Geneva Pelletier, Eula Trojano, Rita Cress and Margaret Standish. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ruth Pelletier of Westfield; two stepsons, Philip Hanscomb and his wife, Marge, of Wallingford, Conn., Daniel Hanscomb of Boca Raton, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Bonnie Hanscomb Walker of Mapleton and Shirley Withington and her husband, Stephen, of Boca Raton, Fla.; two brothers, Leon Pelletier of East Hartford, Conn., Omar Pelletier of Watertown, Conn.; seven sisters, Laurine Lazore of St. Francis, Iona Jandreau of Wolcott, Conn., Viola Plourde of Old Orchard Beach, Patricia Thaxton of Tampa, Fla., Mary Lou Thibodeau of Springfield, Mass., Diane Jandreau of St. John, and Barbara Pierce of Bristol, Conn.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005, at the St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. L. Chanel Cyr celebrant. Interment will follow at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
