GREENVILLE – John Raymond McKenney, 79, known to his friends and family as “Ray,” died Jan. 13, 2008, peacefully at home with his family in Hubbardston, Mass. He was born March 18, 1928, in Greenville, son of Delbert and Sadie (Caron) McKenney. Ray was a lifelong resident of Greenville, where he continued to spend his summers. He spent his winters in Hubbardston, Mass., over the past 20 plus years with his nephew and niece, Jim and Denise McKenney. Ray worked for many years at Indian Hill Farm. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially his summers on Wilson Pond with his family and fri-ends, where he shared nightly campfires, large lobsters, horse-shoes and card games. He was an avid sports fan and loved all New England teams. He was a kind person with a generous heart, who was always willing to help family, friends and neighbors. Ray appreciated the assistance he received through the years from his neighbors on Washington Street. He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Brown of Waltham, Mass., Ethel Pillsbury of Benton, Kathleen Belliveau of Largo, Fla., Leah and Charlie Roach of Long Island, N.Y., and Lucille and Bob Ryan of Graham, N.C.; several nieces, nephews and their families. Ray was predeceased by his parents; and three brothers, Warren of Greenville, Kenneth of Worcester, Mass., and Richard of Defiance, Ohio. Calling hours will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Crosby & Neal, Greenville Chapel, located in the Masonic building. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Rob Reagan officiating. Spring burial will be at Greenville Cemetery.
