HAMPDEN – John Wilfred Hafford, 56, husband of Irene (Frost) Hafford, passed away May 11, 2007, at his home. He was born Aug. 25, 1950, in Queens, N.Y., the son of Joseph Wilfred and Marie Germaine (Lagace) Hafford. John was a graduate of Hampden Academy, Class of 1968. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1969 and served for seven years, during which time he received an Air Force Com-mendation for meritorious service. John was a Dean’s List student at Eastern Maine Tech-nical College and graduated in 1979 with an associates degree in business administration. He owned and operated a property maintenance company called Property Maintenance Services. John enjoyed building construction and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed fishing in Alaska and on the Allagash. He will be remembered as a loving husband, son, father and grandfather. John is survived by his wife of 36 years, Irene of Hampden; his parents, Joseph and Marie Germaine of Hampden; his children, John Eric Hafford and his wife, Melissa, of Dedham, Justin James Hafford and his wife, Wendy, of Glenburn, and Amy Lynn Hafford of Searsport; five brothers, Daniel Dale, Paul Kevin, Mark Terry, Joseph Craig and Brent Hafford; one sister, Louine Gordon; seven grandchildren, Tyler James Hafford, Madison Leigh and MacKenzie Lynn Philbrick, Samantha Phyllis Hafford, Colby Gray Hafford, Logan Thomas Hafford and Sophia Rose Hafford; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Lakeview Cemetery, Western Avenue, Hampden, with the Rev. Mr. Frederick Harrigan, cluster deacon, presiding.
