BROOKS – John Y. Mollison Sr. passed away July 20, 2007, surrounded by his family at Waldo County General Hospital, Belfast. He was born May 23, 1913, in Condorrat, Scotland, the son of James and Margaret Mollison. John came to America Aug. 9, 1933, to work in the stone quarry in Swanville. He and Marie were married Jan. 21, 1939. He worked several years for Ed Bessey & Son, and later raised chickens for Maplewood and Penobscot Poultry. He served the town of Brooks as first selectman and several other offices for more than 30 years. John was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Marie; brothers, Allen and James; and sister, Agnes. He is survived by his daughters, Rosemarie Dudley of Belmont, Anna Fortenberry of Longwood, Fla., Catherine Sjogren and her husband, Carl, of Ashland, Barbara Cunningham and her husband, Grayling, of Searsport, Anita Darby and her husband, Alan, of Burke, Va., and Mary McCormick and husband, Sheldon, of Waldo; sons, John Y. Mollison Jr. of Jackson and David and wife, Elaine, of Mount Chase; several grandchildren, great-grand-children and great-great-grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will begin 10 a.m. Monday, July 23, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where a service will be held 11 a.m. with the Rev.
