MILBRIDGE and FOLSOM, N.J. – Jon M. Christensen, 63, of Milbridge and formerly of Folsom, N.J., died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at his home after a struggle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was born April 18, 1945, in Portland, Ore., the son of the late Louis and Sarah (Campbell) Christensen. Mr. Christensen served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam, as a medic. He shared 40 years of marriage with Lynn (Chalbert) Christensen of Milbridge. In addition to his wife, family members include two sons, Jeffrey Christensen and wife, Cara, of Middletown, Del., and Erik Christensen of Bear, Del.; three grandchildren, John Jr., Ryan and Jesse, all of Middletown, Del.; a sister, Merry Lou Cavaya and husband, Dan, of Seaside, Ore.; and two nieces and a nephew. He will be sadly missed by several close friends and neighbors, whom were extremely helpful to the family. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Wyman United Methodist Church, Wyman Road, Milbridge. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the church.
