ORRINGTON – Joseph A. Eacmen, 70, died at Brigham & Women’s Hosp-ital in Brookline, Mass., of surgic-al complications after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 25, 1935, in Boston, Mass., to the late Mary E. Eacmen. Technical Sgt. (Retired) Joseph Eacmen served his nation for over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and was active during the Korean and Vietnam wars. On Jan. 5, 1957, he was united in marriage to Carole Linda Braley in Bangor. Joseph and Carole spent many wonderful years raising children, making memories and were life partners and best friends. Joseph was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a kind man and was generous and gracious to all who knew him. Joseph was not just a Catholic on Sundays, but practiced his faith everyday. He had a strong work ethic and had many rewarding careers after retiring from the military in 1973. He most recently worked part-time as a courier at Uniship with terrific people who shared his love of military life. He had a very funny sense of humor and brought much joy and laughter to those who were fortunate to spend time with him. His daughters have many fond memories of his “Joe-isms” and especially loved the often heard, “We have done so much for so long with so little, that we are now prepared to do everything with nothing.” Joseph loved to feel the wind in his face and especially enjoyed the ocean, his motorcycles, his fast sports car, gliders and any type of aircraft or war story. Above all, he most enjoyed spending precious moments with family. He will be missed and his spirit lives on in his children and grandchildren. Surviving are his beloved wife, Carole, of Orrington; his daughters, Debora Eacmen-Fiske and her husband, Bruce, and their children, Li Mei and Li Na of Anchorage, Alaska, Karen Rose and her daughter, Kori, Susan Eacmen-Worcester, her husband, David, and her sons, Brandon Porter and Michael Worcester, Mary McCloskey, her husband, James, and their children, Casey and Joseph, all of Maine; his beautiful aunt, Ann “Anto” Larkin of Brookline, Mass. He was predeceased by his mother. Family and friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer, with the Rev. Joel R. Cyr, pastor, celebrant and military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force. <>
