MATTAWAMKEAG – Joseph Ernest Lee, 79, husband of Dorothy (Rideout) Lee, died April 24, 2007, in Norway, Me. He was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Chester, the son of Joseph and Arlene (Wyman) Lee. Ernest loved to drive truck and was employed doing that for more than 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a life member of VFW Post No. 7409, Mattawamkeag. He loved to hunt, fish and was an avid Red Sox fan. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by two sons, Joseph E. III and his friend, Patti, of Bristol, Conn., and Robert E. and his friend, Kristen, of Lincoln; a daughter, Karen Jean and her husband, Randy Martinez, of Manning, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Janet Solerno of Waterbury, Conn.; two sisters, Irene Stratton Gray of Holden and Ruby Thompson of Alaska; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Richard S., Oct 25, 1997; two sisters, Lola Archer and Katherine Snow; and a brother, Woodrow “Buster” Lee. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Leon Robinson officiating. Interment will be at Mattawamkeag Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Mattawamkeag Methodist Church.
