MACHIAS – Marie Eloise (Davis, Grange) Sanborn, 83, died Saturday, April 21, 2007. She was born June 20, 1923, in Machias, the daughter of Millard Davis and Mildred Cona Dow Smith of Kennebec District. Marie was a graduate of Machias Memorial High School and Washington State Normal School. She joined the U.S. Navy Waves and was trained as a medical nurse at Hunter College, New York City and Bethesda Naval Hospital. Her permanent assignment was at Bethesda Navy Hospital, Bethesda, Md. She married Norman George Grange in 1946 and had six children. Marie later married Gilbert Sanborn of Needham, Mass. Marie was predeceased by her parents; husband, Gilbert Sanborn; and her siblings, Geneva (Davis) Kennison of Newton, Mass., Grover Davis of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and Quentin Davis of Kennebec; and her two sons, Gregory and Peter Grange. She is survived by her brother, Millard and Evelyn Davis of Kennebec; sister, Beryl Frayne Davis of Machias; children, Norman and Claudia Grange of Farmington, N.M., Eloise and Greg Harmon of East Machias, Ann Marie Grange of Northfield and Mark Grange of Las Vegas; and numerous relatives, too many to name. Marie leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, who loved her very much. Funeral services will be held at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Community of Christ, at a later date. Burial will be held after the services.
