LEOMINSTER, Mass. – Joseph L. Daigle, 72, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Rena M. Daigle who recently passed away on Dec. 27, 2003. Mr. Daigle was born in 1931 in Soldier Pond, a son of the late Willie and Flavie (Pelletier) Daigle. Following his education, he served in Korea with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Before retiring nearly a decade ago, he worked for many years as an electrician for firms in central and eastern Massachusetts. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Mr. Daigle leaves six children and in-laws, Linda and Norman Poulin of Haverhill, Mass., Diane and George Brenner of Newport, R.I., Terry and Constance Daigle of Elkton, Md., Glenn and Patricia Daigle of Hinesburg, Vt., Wayne and Lisa Daigle of Chelmsford, Mass., and Melissa and Timothy Belanger of Billerica, Mass. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Gilman Daigle, Edmond and Verna Daigle, Norman and Gilmay Daigle, Al Daigle, Rinette Lamare, Wilfrid and Roma Daigle, Yvette Levesque, Bernette Daigle, Philip and Janice Daigle, Leo-Paul and Joanne Daigle, Berthol and Phyllis Daigle; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jodi Poulin, Catherine and Joseph Daigle, Emily, Peter, Aaron and Halley Daigle, Brittany and Tyler Belanger and Charles Daigle. He was the brother of Louis V. Daigle, who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968, and was the father-in-law of the late Lori (Pavalaitis) Daigle. The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, from the M.A. Simard and Son Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster, Mass., with a 10 a.m. Mass in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster, Mass. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Leominster, Mass. Calling hours in the funeral home are 4-7 p.m. Friday evening, Jan. 23, 2004. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home.
