DOVER-FOXCROFT – Josephine Sidone Howard Conner, RN, 75, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at a local nursing home, where she resided since 1999. She was born on March 24, 1929, in Muncy, Pa., the daughter of the late Rev. Joseph and Norma (King) Howard. Josephine graduated from Williamsport High School, then continued her education at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y., where she graduated as an RN in 1949. Josephine then pursued her nursing career in New York City. While living there until 1965, her work as an RN included St. Vincent’s Hospital, The Metropolitan Opera House and Radio City Music Hall. She married John W. Conner at Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., in June 1965, and then moved to Dover-Foxcroft, with her family in 1980. She is survived by her husband, John W. Conner; her son, 1SG John D. Conner and his wife, Lynn, and grandchildren Jeremy, Zachery, and Shelby of Fort Benning, Ga.; her daughter, Victoria A. Conner of New York, N.Y.; and her nieces, Geta Carlson of Berkeley, Calif., and Dianne Varney of Las Vegas, Nev. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Jean and Kathleen. She enjoyed sketching and painting, had an excellent voice and sang in a church choir in New York City. She also enjoyed wilderness camping in Maine with her children and grandchildren at Roach Pond and Baxter State Park. Josephine was a very kind, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. A private memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004. Her cremains will be interned at the King-Howard family lot in Montoursville, Pa.
