FORT KENT – Josephine T. Darab, 90, wife of the late John C. Darab, died peacefully on Dec. 12, 2003, at a Frenchville Nursing Home. She was born on April 1, 1913, in Philadelphia, Penn., the daughter of Ignatius and Bronislawa (Karpinska) Moszczynski, who emigrated from Poland in the early 1900’s. She was predeceased by her first husband, Adolph David Schick; and son, David Schick. She is survived by a daughter, Janet Christine (Schick) Michaud and her husband, Robert, of Fort Kent. She also leaves behind two very special grandchildren, Monique Michaud and her husband, Alain, and Matthew Michaud and his wife, Kellie, a sister, Blanche Federle of Folsom, Penn., three sisters-in-law, Carole Moscinski of Philadelphia, Penn., Kate Moscinski of Newtown Square, Penn., Anne Moshinski of Phildelphia, Penn., many nieces and nephews and two special nieces, Dolores Shemanski and her husband, Vince, and Phyllis Kotch of Reading, Penn. She worked as a C.N.A. for many years at Northeast Hospital in Philadelphia and as a quality control inspector for GM and RCA until her retirement in 1975. She wintered in Florida but would spend Christmas with her family in Fort Kent. For the past 25 years she spent summers with her family at the camp in Eagle Lake until her permanent move to Fort Kent in 1996. She gave so much of herself and made many memories with her grandchildren. She loved to walk the camp road as the grandchildren pedaled their bikes. One of her joys was getting the children ready for school each fall, helping them select their clothes and books. She especially enjoyed her Sunday Mass with everyone, followed by a breakfast with family and friends. She was a kind and caring person who enjoyed shopping, playing cards and dancing. One of the great gifts she possessed was her ability to listen. She had a great zest for life and added quite a spark. We will miss her so much. Rest in peace, Mom. At the request of the family, there will be no visitations at the funeral home. Friends are invited to go directly to the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003. A funeral Mass will also be held in Philadelphia in the spring followed by internment in Resurrection Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pa. Those who wish may donate in her memory to the Fort Kent Library, 1 Monument Square, Fort Kent, ME 04743, or The St. Louis Renovation Fund, 26 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743.
