HAMPDEN – Josephine V. (Richards) Luro, 93, passed away Oct. 26, 2005, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born Feb. 17, 1912, in Hampden, the daughter of Herbert L. and Bertha A. (Mansell) Richards. Josephine attended Hampden schools and was a graduate of Hampden Academy, Class of 1930. During her working life she was a sales clerk for 15 years at Centers Department Store and for eight years at Rines Company, both of Bangor. She was a member of Hampden Congregational Church and the Hampden Senior Citizens. She is survived by two stepsons, Palmer Luro of Florida and Harold Luro of Chelmsford, Mass.; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Winfield W. Cheney; her second husband, Leon J. Luro; her son, Winfield W. Cheney II; stepson, Walter Luro; one brother, Kenneth Richards; and four sisters, Mildred Ellis, Pauline Frost, Christine Ellingwood and Helen Bates. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Dr. Deborah M. Jenks, pastor of the Hampden Congregational Church, officiating. A time of visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
