SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Frances “Fran” P. Willey, 65, died Oct. 26, 2005, in Bar Harbor. She was born May 18, 1940, in Seal Cove, the daughter of Julian and Julia (Kelley) Harper Sr. Fran worked for many years cleaning cottages with Janet Gilley and Barbara Bracy. She also worked for the Hinckley Company and Beals Lobster Pound. She was the world’s best cook and was always giving her cooking to others. Fran enjoyed camping and the trips to Florida and being with her friends. She was a great supporter of the Southwest Harbor Fire Department. Fran is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Berten W. Willey; one son, Allen B. “Snap” Willey and wife, Cynthia; and one daughter, Diane and husband, John M. Ward, all of Southwest Harbor; one brother, Carroll “Danny” Harper, of Seal Cove; four sisters, Agnes Butler, Sophronia Campbell, both of Seal Cove, Eva Goodwin of West Tremont and Katherine Curran of Southwest Harbor; a brother and sister-in-law, Shirley and Alberta Willey of Southwest Harbor; eight grandchildren, Michael Robinson, Darren Robinson, Jennifer Willey, Derik Willey, Shana Willey, Christopher Ward, Nathan Ward and Spencer Ward; one great-grandson, Collin Robinson; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Midy, James Sr. and Julian Harper Jr. Friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Wayne Buchanan officiating. Interment will be at Mount Height Cemetery, Southwest Harbor.
