PITTSFIELD – Joyce A. Raye, 77, died peacefully Friday, May 4, 2007, surrounded by her husband, Clifford; and her best friend and sister-in-law, Faye Freeman, at Sebasticook Valley Health Care Facility. She was born Sept. 1, 1929, in Woodstock, New Brunswick, the daughter of Sterling and Gladys Knox. Joyce was employed for many years by the town of Pittsfield, working in the town office. She was known for her passion and talent of painting. Many of her paintings are in Pittsfield’s town buildings, as well as all over the United States. Joyce enjoyed knitting, gardening, ice skating and playing with the neighborhood children. She had a gentle and generous spirit, enjoyed life and will be missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Clifford; one son, Randy and his wife, Rebecca, of Palmyra; a granddaughter, Audrey of Palmyra; one brother, Jay Knox of McAdam, New Brunswick; a sister-in-law, Nancy Knox of Woodstock, New Brunswick; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Wallace Knox. The family would like to thank the doctors and entire nursing staff at Sebasticook Hospital, and a special thanks to all the staff at Sebasticook Health Care Facility for the excellent care that was given to her there. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 7, at Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the funeral home with the Rev. Albert Thibault officiating. Interment will be after at Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sebasticook Health Care Facility, 33 Leighton St., Pittsfield, ME 04967. Arrangements are entrusted to Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield.
