EAST MILLINOCKET – Rosalie (Galvin) Jamo died peacefully Saturday, May 5, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at a local hospital. She was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Millinocket, daughter of John Edward and Winifred (Hickey) Galvin. Rose was a graduate of Stearns High School, Class of 1943. She was employed as a clerk at the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad Co.; Kessler Shoe Co., Kennebunk; and at the Harvest House Restaurant, Millinocket. She married her beloved high school classmate, Nicholas Jamo, in 1946. Dedication to her husband, family, church and community never wavered throughout her life as she served faithfully in all areas. Always attentive to her children’s interests led to her participation in Boy Scout projects, musical activities, teaching Christian Doctrine classes, the latter honoring her with the Catholic Youth Organization’s prestigious award for God and Youth. It was requested that she found and initiate the Children’s Libraries at the local elementary school level. She accepted the challenge and witnessed its growth made possible by so many dedicated volunteers throughout the years. Rose was a willing and dedicated member of the Millinocket Players, having served as president and producing three of their many spectacular annual offerings. She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where she was active on numerous committees, including RCIA and the Daughters of Isabella. She also served as president of the parish council. She had received her master’s degree as a member of the Preceptor Delta Beta Sigma Phi. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Nicholas Jamo; daughter, Mary Catherine; brother, John Edward Galvin Jr.; and sister, Patricia Provenzano. She is survived by her son, John and his wife, Nancy; their children, John and Michelle Jamo, Lauren and Aaron, Nichole Jamo, Lillian, Sophia and Annabelle and Jillian and Scott Cole; her son, Thomas and Cindy and his children, Thomas, Trish and Riley Jamo, Nathan and Sarah Jamo and Benjamin Jamo; her son, James and his wife, Teresa; their children, Melissa and David Bulkin, Tyler and Lexie; her daughter, Patricia and her husband, Richard McKinnon; their daughter, Jennifer McKinnon; her son, Paul and his wife, Laurie; their children, Patrick and Laura Jamo; her son, David and his wife, Tina; their children, Kristina Jamo, Angela, Breanna and Gage; sister, Catherine Bonis; brother-in-law, Michael Provenzano; sisters-in-law, Mary Morse and Doris Jamo; several nieces, nephews, cousins and 13 godchildren. Rose’s legacy was that of boundless love for all of those who have touched her life and for all of those whose lives touched hers. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, East Millinocket. Burial will be at Millinocket Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the sacrifice of the Mass may be offered for the repose of Rose’s soul. Arrangements are by Bouchard – Lamson Funeral Home, East Millinocket.
