BANGOR – Joyce Hope Peabody, 73, previously of Houlton, passed away peacefully Jan. 4, 2004, at a local healthcare facility surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 2, 1931, in Houlton, the daughter of Robert and Lena (Nason) Huggard. Joyce was a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital’s LPN and Registered Nurse program and has been employed at the hospital for 25 years where she retired. She was actively involved in St. Joseph Hospital’s Home Health Care and was a Hospice volunteer. She enjoyed an active lifestyle and touched all she came into contact with. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Bangor. She is survived by her son and wife, Randall Peabody and Ginny, of Bangor; her daughter and husband, Debra and Ward Grossman, of Saco; three grandchildren, Tara and her husband, Andrew Carpenter, of South Portland, Kelly Grossman of Gorham, and Nathan Peabody of Virginia Beach, Va.; one brother, Richard Huggard of Veazie; one sister, Margaret O’Leary of Houlton. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Peabody; son, Douglas Peabody; and nine brothers and sisters. Services will be held this spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton.
