BREWER and STILLWATER – Joyce Louise (Clark) Swett, 74, wife of the late Clyde Swett, died Jan. 23, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1929, in Bangor, the daughter of Harvard and Mildred (Bissett) Clark. Joyce graduated form Brewer High School in 1948. She began her studies at Gorham State Teachers College and graduated in 1952. Joyce taught in Rockland for two years, and then moved to Bridgewater, N.J., where she taught for 27 years. She was a classroom teacher then became a learning disability specialist, elementary school principal, then retired in 1978. Joyce married Clyde Swett in 1980, and returned to Maine. She loved flowers and spending time at her camp in Lucerne with the children. She is survived by a special daughter, Brenda Carle; and many friends, including special neighbors, Gladys and Dwight Blodget. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Herbert. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at the Stillwater Federated Church, Bennoch Road, Stillwater, with the Rev. Ronald Chaffee, pastor, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments following the service Monday in Church’s Fellowship Hall. Spring interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Brewer.
