BROOKSVILLE – Judith “Judy” Irene Bates, 74, died Nov. 2, 2005, surrounded by her family at Blue Hill Hospital. She was born Nov. 28, 1931, in Pittsburg, Kan., the daughter of Andrew Judge and Mary (Tharpe) Curran. Judy was a very loving, caring, giving person for any and all. She was active in the Brooksville Historical Society and served the Brooksville Methodist Church in many ways. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul; children, Mary Warren and husband, Wade, of Newport, Ore. and their three children and three grandchildren, Ellen Barney and husband, Jonathan, of Sacramento, Calif. and their three children and nine grandchildren, Ruth Green and husband, Robert, of Pasco, Wash. and their three children and six grandchildren, Jim Collins of Sanford, and his daughter, Judith, Dawna Hartin and her three children, Kelly Douglass of Brooksville and her son, Dustin; brother, James Curran of Paola, Kansas; sister, Betty LaBombard of Kansas City, Mo. She will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law, Judy Lebel and husband, Bruno, of Brooksville and many extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents, daughter, Dawna and granddaughter, Christina. Calling hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Jordan-Fernald, 141 South St., Blue Hill. A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Edgewood Cemetery, Brooksville, with the Rev. Gary Vencill officiating.
