OLD TOWN – Julia C. (Clark) Harris, 89, passed away early Wednesday, April 14, 2004, surrounded by her family at an Orono nursing facility. She was born in Milford, May 29, 1914, the daughter of the late Charles and Keziah (Smith) Clark. Julia attended Old Town schools and was a graduate of Old Town High School. She was employed at the University of Maine Dining Halls for 15 years. Julia was an active member of the Old Town United Baptist Church and the R.S.V.P. program. She was an avid harmonica player, a true Red Sox fan and also enjoyed crocheting. She loved to play “Scrabble” with her friends and family, winning a majority of the games. She is survived and will be sadly missed by a son, Sam Harris and his wife, Maureen of Waldoboro; daughter, Meredith May and her husband, Tom of Fort Washington, Md.; son, Christopher Harris and his wife, Joannie, of Waterville; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a brother, Homer Carr and his wife, Dodie, of Bangor, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul K. Harris, 11 brothers and sisters and a granddaughter, Karen Spencer. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A celebration of life will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday at the Old Town United Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Stevens officiating. Friends are invited to the Church Undercroft for a luncheon and continued fellowship while a private committal service will be held at Lawndale Cemetery.
