BREWER – Julia Catherine Jacobs, 71, passed away Monday, March 29, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Aug. 26, 1932, in Bangor, the daughter of the late Harold F. and Eillein (Lee) Curtis. Julie was a member of the Hammond Street Congregational Church and enjoyed traveling with her husband, Ken, to places such as Florida and Nebraska, where they have friends and relatives. She loved visiting with friends and family. She worked as a nurse before her children were born. Julie was a devoted wife, mother, as well as doting grandmother, who enjoyed cooking for the holidays. She put family first in every part of her life. In addition to her loving husband of 51 years, Kenneth M. Jacobs, she will be missed by her four children, Judy and her husband, Thomas Crosby, of Falmouth, Bruce Jacobs of Waterville, Neal and Terry Jacobs of Fort Myers, Fla., Susan and her husband, Theodore Corbett, of Saco; seven grandchildren, Karen and David Crosby, Jared and Megan Jacobs, Casey and Katie Jacobs, Nicholas Corbett; and great-grandson, Mason Adams. She is also survived by her sister, Charlotte Smith of Brewer; her brother, Arthur Curtis of Eddington; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clifford and Sharon Jacobs of Valentine, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Dr. Mark Allen Doty, pastor of the Hammond Street Congregational Church, officiating.
