OAKLAND – Julia E. (Cramp) York passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Oct. 29, 2006, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Waterville. She was born May 31, 1923, in East Millinocket, one of the 12 sons and daughters of William J. and Alfra L. (York) Cramp. In 1942, she married Lee A. York and throughout the next decade, brought into the world six daughters, Marie, Cheryl “Tally,” Brenda, Bonnie, Elaine, and Lynn. Julia and Lee moved to Oakland in 1944, where she enjoyed providing a loving home for her family the rest of her life. Julia was predeceased by Lee in 1995 and through the years by nine of her brothers and sisters, Charles Cramp, Una Cramp, Wesley Cramp, Garold Cramp, Althea Quimby, Nina Luke, Bernice “Bunny” Willette, Tressa Wilson and Iza Hale. In addition to many nieces and nephews, Julia is survived by her six girls, Marie Wrigley and husband, Dana, Tally Levine and husband, Dick, Brenda York, all of Oakland, Bonnie Willette and husband, John, of Lecanto, Fla., Elaine York of Union and Lynn Benedict and husband, Bob, of Augusta; grandchildren, Dana Wrigley Jr., James Wrigley, Thane Foster, Todd Bouchard, Lisa Vieta, Chris Willette, Leigh Adams, Luke Weston, Josh Weston, Chad Benedict, Shane Benedict, Megan Maheux and Trever Benedict; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Stephanie, Caleb and Olivia Wrigley, Jace Bouchard, Julia Vieta, Jonathan Pinnette, Taylor and Mitchell Adams, Jacob and Grace Weston, Rylan and Caden Benedict and Brady Maheux; her sister, Naomi Clark and her husband, Ken; her brother, Kenneth Cramp; her brothers-in-law, Frank Wilson and Kent York; and sisters-in-law, Rebecca Cole and husband, Ben, Flora Cramp and Margaret York. During her last days, she was surrounded by friends and family whose tears of sadness were washed away by those of laughter, as stories and photos were swapped around her bedside. Thank you from all of us whose lives you touched. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Riverside Assembly, Water Street, Fairfield, with a gathering held after in the fellowship hall. Committal services will be held noon Friday, Nov. 3, at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Arrangements are by Wheeler Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Oakland.
