CHERRYFIELD – Julia P. (Pinkham) Mitchell, 93, a native of Cherryfield, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at the Pleasant Bay Nursing Home on Cape Cod, Mass. She was the wife of Stanley W. Mitchell Sr. who died Dec. 4, 1995, in Milbridge. Born in Cherryfield, she spent most of her working life in Boothbay Harbor, where she was employed at several local businesses, the last of which was Bob’s Photo and TV, where she was also deputy town clerk for Boothbay Harbor. She was active in the Pythian Sisters and Eastern Star in Boothbay, and in local church groups there and in Milbridge. She left Milbridge in the late 1920s and moved to New York with her husband, where they resided until the early 1940s when they moved to Boothbay Harbor. They returned to Milbridge in 1980 after she and Stanley retired. Julia moved to Wethersfield, Conn., in 1997, where she lived with her son, Malcolm and his wife, Betty-Lou, until entering the Pleasant Bay Nursing Home on Cape Cod. She was predeceased by a son, Stanley W. Mitchell Jr. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Malcolm A. Mitchell and Betty-Lou Mitchell of South Chatham, Mass.; a daughter-in-law, Cora Mitchell of Danbury, Conn.; two granddaughters, Tracie Mitchell and Gina Mitchell of Glastonbury, Conn.; two grandsons, Stanley W. Mitchell III of Naperville, Ill., and James Mitchell of Hinsdale, N.H.; two brothers, Francis Pinkham and James Pinkham; four sisters, Amelia Jones, Nellie Davis, all of Maine, Edith Hanks of Massachusetts, and Maxine Larson of New York; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Milbridge Volunteer Ambulance Service.
