BAR HARBOR – Julia Rutkowski, 91, died June 19, 2008, at a Bar Harbor health care facility. She was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Bronx, N.Y., the daughter of Bronislaw and Victoria (Gerwat) Filipowicz. At age 8, she moved to Philadelphia. Julia moved to Linden, N.J., at age 19, after marrying Alexander Rutkowski. They made their home there until 1993 when Alexander died. Julia moved back to Philadelphia to be with her sister for several years, before moving to Birch Bay Village to be near other family. Julia had been a member of the Catholic church all her life. She is survived by her niece, Susan J. Pennington and husband, Robert F.; and a brother-in-law, Henry J. Kubiak, all of Bar Harbor. She is also survived by a nephew, Robert Rutkowski of Kansas; and a great-nephew, Geoffrey R. Pennington of Boston. Julia was predeceased by her husband, Alexander Rutkowski in 1993; and her sister, Jane S. Kubiak in 1997. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Bar Harbor, with Father John O’Hara officiating. Interment will be in Linden, N.J.
