PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – June B. Laughton, 83, died Sunday, March 6, 2006, at St. Lucie Nursing and Restorative Care Center in Port St. Lucie. Originally from South Brewer, she moved to Jensen Beach and Port St. Lucie, Fla. 22 years ago from Bourne, Mass. Mrs. Laughton was a secretary at the Pentagon and Federal Housing Administration in Washington, D.C. during World War II. She retired in 1983 from the Steven Days Insurance Agency in Bourne, Mass. She was a member of the Bourne Methodist Church, Sandwich Chapter 221, O.E.S., Bourne Historical Society, Bourne United Methodist Women’s Society and past president of the Old Colony Women’s Club. She was active in youth activities and officiated girl’s basketball games. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Andrew Laughton of Port St. Lucie; son, Thomas Laughton of Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Madeline Jackson of Monument Beach, Mass. and Virginia Derby of Kittery; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her daughter, Wendy Walters, one sister and two brothers predeceased her. Funeral services will be private at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City. Forest Hills Funeral Home in Palm City is handling arrangements.
