HOULTON – June R. Bone, 73, died March 31, 2006, at Houlton with her family at her side. She was born Feb. 20, 1933, in Millinocket, the daughter of Melvin E. and Doris L. (Grass) Walls. June graduated from Brewer High School in 1951. After 16 years of being the best mom ever she decided to go to beauty school and graduated with honors, still retaining her license until her death. June had many hobbies including cooking with Paula Dean, knitting on her knitting machines, vegetable gardening. She also enjoyed tracking her genealogy roots to the first English speaking settler on the Miramachi River, William Davidson also to the first settlers of Forest City, Alex Walls and to her Scottish heritage. She was one of the first modern day fly fishing women members at the Penobscot Salmon Club. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, R. Lewis Bone of Houlton; three children, Debra A.B. Garibotto and her husband, John, of Florida and Houlton, Thomas N. Bone of Windham and Susan V. Bone and her fiance, Dan Pomerleau, of Mechanic Falls; four grandchildren, Sonya, Ryan, Amanda and Sara; one great-grandson, Patrick “P.J.;” one sister, Louise Russell of Brunswick; several nieces nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, and one brother, Herbert Graham. Friends may celebrate her life 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, with services being held 7 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating.
