STONINGTON – Katharine “Kay” Coleman, 94, passed peacefully Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born July 23, 1913, in Graz, Austria, the only child of the late Nikolas and Katarina (Schwartzbauer) Pucher. As a child, Kay immigrated to New York City, at age 7. She worked at Bloomingdales Department Store for many years as a clerk. She summered in Oceanville since 1950 and retired with her husband, William, to Oceanville in 1969. She was a member of the Oceanville Baptist Church, where she took care of the church, providing bookkeeping and treasurer duties. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She shared 57 years of marriage with the late William Coleman, who died in 1986. Family members include a daughter, Alma Coleman Scully of Stonington and Eden, N.Y.; grandchildren, Patricia Linehan and husband, James, Kevin Scully and fiance, Donna, Elizabeth Marchewka and husband, Jack, and Susan Dwelley and husband, Charles; great-grandchildren, Megan Linehan, Kathryn Linehan, Sean Linehan, Morgan Scully, Bennett Scully, William Marchewka, Timothy Marchewka, Kellie Marchewka, Matthew March-ewka, Thomas French, Lynn Dwelley and Jacob Dwelley; several close friends and neighbors. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Donald Scully, March 2008. A service of remembrance will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, at Oceanville Baptist Church, Stonington. Grave-side services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oceanville Cemetery, Stonington.
