BANGOR – Joan Carol (Hayes) Cunningham, 77, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born June 13, 1930, in Quincy, Mass., the daughter of John and Gladis (Berry) Hayes. Joan grew up in the Greater Quincy, Mass., Portland and Brewer areas, and was a graduate of Brewer High School and Northeastern University. She enjoyed her career as an accountant for Quincy Public Schools for more than 20 years, and for Jack Hayes Engravers Inc., a business owned and operated by her father and husband. She is survived by her son, John and his wife, Diane Cunningham, of Orrington; sister, Linda Roberts of Bangor; and granddaughter, Christy Cunningham of Orrington. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Gladis (Berry) Hayes; and her husband, Millard Cunningham Jr. Joan’s family would like to thank the staff at Westgate Manor and CHCS Hospice for all their care and compassion, and Barbara and the staff at My Friends Place, a respite group for Alzheimer’s patients.
