BELGRADE – Kathleen Joan Scott, 68, of 29 Gowell Road, passed away on April 21, 2004, in her home following an extended illness of ovarian cancer. She was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Detroit, a daughter of the late Eugene W. Field and C. Wynona (Crocker) Field. Mrs. Scott was a graduate of Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Class of 1954. She was a life member of the Eastern Apicultural Society of North America and a life member of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine. She was a dedicated homemaker for all of her married life. She was baptized as a Methodist and a member of the church in Detroit. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Matthew of Belgrade; and three sons, Gregory M. Scott and his wife, Stacy, of Hampden, and their two sons, Matthew and Michael; Mark A. Scott and his wife, Janet M., of Haverhill, Mass., and Jonathan Scott and his dog, Rosebud, of Augusta. She is also survived by four sisters, Gladys Alger of Peach Tree City, Ga., Carolyn Burton of Detroit, Maxine Schissler and husband, Joseph, of Detroit, Joyce Partridge and husband, Alden, of Kenduskeag; a sister-in-law, Isabel Ann McRoberts and her husband, Russell, of Dover Plains, N.Y. She was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Field of Detroit; and a brother, Leon S. Field of Miami, Fla. Kathleen was a kind and compassionate person, a devoted wife and excellent mom to her three sons. Her acts of kindness and overall perseverance are lessons for everyone to inculcate. She will be sorely missed by all and never to be replaced. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of life 10 a.m.-12 noon Saturday, May 22, at the Belgrade Community Center for all seasons. Graveside funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Monday, May 24, at the New Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, ME 04330.
