SEARSPORT – Kathleen R. Whitcomb, 79, died peacefully Dec. 22, 2006, at a Belfast nursing facility. She was born July 2, 1927, in Searsport, the daughter of Maurice and Violet (Evans) Pendleton. Kathleen was raised in Searsport and married her beloved husband, Carl M. Whitcomb, Nov. 5, 1943. They lived in North Searsport for the first five years, then they moved to Massachusetts for work and to raise their family, returning to Searsport, December 1985, after Carl retired. She is survived by nine children, Robert Whitcomb and his wife, Irma, of Arizona, Rita Michaud of New Hampshire, Roberta Dyer and her husband, George, of Massachussets, Roland Whitcomb and his wife, Joan, of Searsport, Reginald Whitcomb and his wife, Debra, of Searsport, Rebecca Hogan of New Hampshire, Rosemary Purcell of Florida, Ramona Rozario and her husband, Chencho, of New Hampshire and Rodney Whitcomb and his wife, Lisa, of Searsport; two brothers, Chester Pendleton and his wife, Hazel, of Belfast and Richard Pendleton and his wife, Robbie, of Stockton Springs; three sisters, Janie York of Searsport, Marion Hall of Searsport and Arleen Clements and her husband, Andrew, of Searsport; 27 grandchildren, 37 great-grand-children, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Carl in 1989; son, Rusty in 1985; three brothers, Elden, George and Maurice Jr.; and two grandchildren. Visiting hours for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, at Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Alden Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Paul Cemetery, Waldo.
