BLAINE – Kathryn D. LaPointe, 50, died May 27, 2005, at a Portland hospital. She was born Oct. 13, 1954, in Elgin, Ill., the daughter of Richard and Marjorie (Burnidge) Rasmussen. Kathryn had been employed by the State of Maine Human Services for many years until her retirement due to illness. She had been an active volunteer with the Battered Women’s Project Hot Line, the AMHC Hot Line and had been a Girl Scout leader for several years. Surviving her is her husband, Daniel LaPointe of Blaine; a son, Marcus LaPointe of South Elgin, Ill.; two brothers, Ralph Rasmussen and David Mulcahay, both of South Elgin, Ill.; two sisters, Jaymie Briggs of Streamwood, Ill. and Chris Zubais of Independence, Wis.; several nieces and nephews. At her request there will be no calling hours or service. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Battered Women’s Project, 421 Main St., Presque Isle, ME 04769. Arrangements are in the care of the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
