MARSHFIELD – Katie Lynn Brady Cabana, 29, died unexpectedly Jan. 23, 2008, at her home. She was born Sept. 19, 1978, in Grand Forks, N.D. Katie attended schools in Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Incirlik, Turkey. At Peru High School she was active in jazz, speaking and art clubs, Upward Bound, played saxophone and competed in competitions. Katie enjoyed art, reading, hiking; family pets, Trouble and Sam; music, and computers. Katie dreamed of being a veterinarian or advertisement artist. Katie admired the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and graduated from Washington Academy and attended University of Maine. On Dec. 15, 1998, Gabriel Leigh Brady was born in Calais. True to his name, Gabriel sounds the horn. While living in Brandon, Fla., Katie was employed with Teletech and Home Depot. Her cousins and Aunt K. Dowd “Duck” gave a shower for Autumn Joy Rogers born Oct. 31, 2001, at Brandon Hospital. Marlene and Tamara came to Florida to help with Autumn. Grammy and Grandpa Rogers sent gifts and support. Katie returned to Calais and Ethan Nicholas Rogers was born Oct. 7, 2002. Katie and Steve Cabana wed in Pembroke in June 2004. Katie and Steve shared many happy times together as depicted in family photos. Halloween was her favorite time. Katie was a loving mother and her children will miss their mother’s smile and dancing to music with them. Katie is survived by her husband, Steven Cabana; her children; mother, RayAnn Wilder; father, Raymond O. Brady Jr. and his wife, Carolyn Brady, of Florida; sisters, Kristie Brady and Tamara Wilder; and grandparents, Sheila and David Murray. Katie was predeceased by her grandparents, Leigh Wilder and Estella Paige Wilder, and Raymond O. Brady. A public memorial service is being planned. Donations may be made to Machias Savings Bank.
