CORINNA – Kenneth A. King, 77, beloved family patriarch, died peacefully at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home Aug. 26, 2005. He was born Oct. 25, 1927, the son of Henry and Dorothy (Cook) King. A graduate of Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1945, Ken was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a skilled meat cutter and worked at Jones’s Market, Hanson & Smith, Moore’s Market, Fernald’s Market and Bud’s Shop & Save in Newport. He also did custom meat cutting in the fall for many years. Ken enjoyed wood crafting and created many beautiful pieces of furniture for family and friends. The fruits of his bountiful garden were shared with one and all. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours golfing with friends. He was a comical story-teller and was also the family philosopher. Ken and his wife, Mim, were fortunate to have spent many years traveling and especially enjoyed the Shrine Club trips. He was recently asked by a hospital staff member where his favorite place was, he answered “at the dinner table with my wife and my children”. Ken attended the Corinna United Methodist Church. He had served as a town constable and member of the fire department for many years. He belonged to the American Legion Post 73, and was a member and past master of Parian Lodge, AF & AM, both of Corinna. He was also a member of the Anah Shrine and was past president of the Tri-County Shrine Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Miriam (Hilliker) King; and his sister, Nancy King, both of Corinna; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Dorman of Exeter; a son-in-law, William Gallagher of Corinna; and a daughter-in-law, Ona Elgee of Albuquerque, N.M. Ken leaves five grandchildren and their spouses whom he dearly loved, Randy and Pamela Dorman of Pittsfield, Angela and Wade McCrum of Mars Hill, Amy and Jason Grenier of Exeter, Kenneth and Angela Dorman of Exeter, and Andrew and Tina Gallagher of Dover, N.H. He took special delight in his great-grandchildren, Emma Elisabeth Dorman, Dayna Elaine, Keara Ann, and Samantha Marie McCrum, Robert Steven Dorman, and Sage Cynthia Grenier, who was born Aug. 22nd. He was predeceased by his parents, and his beloved children, Steven Kenneth King and Cynthia Lee (King) Gallagher. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, 68 Exeter Rd., Corinna, where Masonic services will be held 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Corinna United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sharon Lovejoy officiating. Private interment will be in the family lot, Corinna Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cindy Gallagher Children’s Room, care of Stewart Library, 8 Levi Stewart Drive, Corinna, ME 04928.
