BROOKLIN – Kenneth Austin Staples Jr., 56, passed away un-expectedly Aug. 23, 2004. He was born Feb. 8, 1948, in Blue Hill, the son of Kenneth A. and Shirlie B. (Hardy) Staples. Kenneth was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. His favorite past-time was spending time with his daughter, Erika, his very special companion, Lynda Fill and the light of his life, grandson, Braden Austin, (aka “Brady” and “Bubby Boy”) who enjoyed playing outside and shopping for toys together. Other favorite past-times Ken enjoyed were making Sunday dinners with his family and friends, working in his flower gardens, enjoying his wild animals and feeding the birds and his passion for “westerns movies” and a good laugh. Surviving is his mother, Shirlie Staples of Brooklin; daughter, Erika Fill and her fiance, Keith Ryder; and their son Braden; a very special companion of 27 years, Lynda Fill of Stonington; a brother, Timothy Staples and his wife, Terri, of Brooklin; two sisters; Nora Straub of New York and Donna Natale and her husband, Bod of Connecticut; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth A. Staples Sr.; and brother, Dwight Staples. Calling hours will be held 6- 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 141 South Street, Blue Hill. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, at the First Baptist Church, Brooklin, with the Rev. James Lufkin officiating. Interment will be in Brooklin Cemetery.
