PERRY – Kenneth J. “Sonny” Avery Jr., 70, beloved husband of Ivie, passed away April 19, 2007, after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born Dec. 25, 1936, in Eastport, to Kenneth J. Avery Sr. and Pearl (Leighton) Avery. During his lifetime he worked at many different jobs, but his favorite was the 16 years he spent at S.L. Wadsworth. After his retirement, he kept busy with mowing lawns and plowing snow. Sonny looked forward to his daily visits to the Baycity garage to visit the boys. Kenneth was predeceased by his brother, George; his parents; and brothers-in-law, Joe Troiani and Billy Monteer. He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Ivie (Johnson); his sisters, Betty Troiani and Shirley Monteer; his in-laws, Ferne and Gates Johnson; as well as brothers-in-law, Bob and Carla Johnson, Dana and Ruby Johnson and Loring and Pam Johnson; several nieces, nephews and aunts; a special aunt, Edna Avery; and his two little girlfriends, Riley and Wren Fraser, who brought him so much joy and love during his illness. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Mays Funeral Home – Flagg Chapel, 72 High St., Eastport. A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Sheldon Keezer officiating. Burial will take place at Bayside Cemetery at a later date. No flowers please.
