AUGUSTA – Kenneth J. Chase, 94, of South Belfast Avenue, went home to be with his Lord, Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at Augusta Rehabilitation Center, after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 23, 1911, in Augusta, the son of the late Herman J. and Mary (Busha) Chase. Mr. Chase was a graduate of Wentworth Technical School, Boston, Class of 1929. He had been employed by the Augusta School Department for 32 years and had also worked at Frank X. Pomerleau’s for several years. Mr. Chase was a member of Penny Memorial United Baptist Church, Augusta and the Maine State Employees Association. Mr. Chase is survived by his daughter, Janice MacNeill and her husband, John, of Prospect Harbor; two grandchildren, Rebecca Renaud of Vassalboro and Ellen Barkin of Naples, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Amber Edwards, Amanda Edwards and Josh Barkin; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and many other loving relatives. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, Augusta. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Winthrop Street, Augusta.
