WEST ENFIELD – Kenneth James Blanch, 52, passed away March 13, 2006, after a long time of suffering physically. He was born Oct. 17, 1953, in Lincoln, the son of James and Phyllis (Lancaster) Blanch. After graduating from Penobscot Valley High School in 1972, he joined the Air Force. He was stationed at Homestead Air Force Base in Florida. His all time dream was to be an ironworker. He was a member of Ironworkers Local Union 496 until he was forced to retire after sustaining some serious injuries. He was an excellent welder and took pride in his work. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 97 of Howland. In the last few years he entered into several real estate purchases and loved the process. Ken was a history buff and could tell you most facts about U.S. history. He had an excellent sense of humor which will be greatly missed. Ken is survived by his father, James Blanch of West Enfield; two sisters, Laura Cook and her husband, David, and Judy Murphy and her husband, Bill; two nephews, Brian and Matthew Murphy; one niece, Angela Cook; his only uncle, Durwood Lancaster and his family, Dan, David, Becky and Kristine all of Toledo, Ohio. He leaves special friends, Shirley Dwelley and Eleanor Nelson. He was predeceased by his mother, Phyllis Blanch. His trusted buddy was his dog, Dow, who will now live with Ken’s father, James. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Hyland officiating.
