SEARSPORT – Kenneth L. Fahlberg, 82, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 25, 2008, in Bangor. Born Oct. 2, 1925, in Kewanee, Ill., he was the son of Ruben B. and Myrtle F. (Johnson) Fahlberg. Mr. Fahlberg received a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Divinity from Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill. He also received a masters in history and library science from Columbia University, New York City. On Jan. 15, 1949, he married Doris Tracey in Kewanee, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Fahlberg had resided in Illinois, Arizona, California and Long Island, N.Y., before moving to Maine in 1984. Mr. Fahlberg had been a librarian at Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn, N.Y., for more than 30 years. Mr. Fahlberg was a member of Searsport Historical Society and First Congregational Church, Sears-port. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodcarving. He especially enjoyed Civil War history. He enjoyed classical music and watching all the seabirds from his home. Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Doris M. Fahlberg of Searsport; one daughter, Susan Fahlberg-Hanson and her husband, Mark, of South Montville; two stepgrandchildren, Kyle and Jamie Hanson of Richmond; two brothers-in-law, Edward Tracey and his wife, Evelyn, of Florida, and Robert Tracey and his wife, Audrey, of New Jersey; 11 nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his devoted canine companion, Brady. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. and a funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at First Congregational Church, 8 Church St., Searsport, with Dr. Arlin T. Larson officiating. A reception will be held after the funeral service in Curtis Hall at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Searsport Historical Society, P.O.
