OTIS – Kenneth M. Salsbury, 82, husband of the late Arlene (Silsby) Salsbury, died Jan. 8, 2004, of renal failure at a Lewiston health care center. He was born May 14, 1921, in Otis, the son of Roland and Erma (Jordon) Salsbury. Kenneth was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving on the battleship Intrepid in the Pacific. He worked as a truck driver for Hancock County Creamery and Gulf Oil. He also worked as a part-time mail carrier in Brownville. Kenneth was a member of the Otis Baptist Church, the Crescent Lodge No. 78, AF & AM, Pembroke, the American Legion and was a 65 year member of the Mariaville Grange and he also joined the square dance clubs in Washington County and the snowmobile club in Brownville Jct. Surviving are two children, Sharon Jankunas of Otis and Sonia Houde and her husband, Bob, of Raymond; four grandchildren, Justin Kittredge and his friend, Lyndsey Gleason, of Raymond, Kevin Houde and his wife, Meghan, of Dayton, Tonya Danehy and her husband, Michael, of Saco, Cindy McLaughlin and her husband, Bill, of Veazie; five great-grandchildren, Cameron and Tyler Houde, Amelia Danehy, Aaron and Ian McLaughlin; two brothers, Roland Salsbury Jr. and his wife, Allison, of Town Hill, Richard Salsbury and his wife, Virginia, of Ellsworth; one sister, Laurice Lorenz and her husband, Kenneth, of Wisconsin; a brother-in-law, Kennie Silsby and his wife, Nona, of Osborne; many nieces, nephews and in-laws. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by three brothers, Errold, Lysle and Raymond Salsbury; two sisters, Eleanor Coffin and Marion Sargent; and a grandson. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at the Otis Baptist Church, Rt. 180, Otis. A time of fellowship will follow. Interment in the spring will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Otis Baptist Church Building Fund, 1011 Otis Rd., Otis 04605. Cremation arrangements by Cremation Basics, Inc., Bangor.
