CRANSTON, R.I., and MEDWAY – Kenneth Martin Oxley, 87, a retired Teamster, died Oct. 4, 2004, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center of Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, Providence, R.I. He was the husband of Marjorie E. (Carpenter) Oxley; they had been married for 57 years. Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, son of the late Martin J. and Ida (Lee) Oxley, he had lived in Cranston for many years and also owned a home in Medway since the late 1950s. Mr. Oxley had been a member of Teamsters Local 251 for more than 37 years before retiring in 1979. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Oxley was a member of the Meshanticut Park Baptist Church and a lifelong member of the Benedicta, Maine, Snow Gang Snowmobile Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed the time he spent at his cabin in Medway. In addition to his wife, he leaves four sons, Kenneth F. Oxley of Haddon Township, N.J., Martin J. Oxley II of Chepachet, R.I., Randy L. Oxley of Cranston, R.I., and John A. Oxley of Medway; a sister, Phyllis Smith of Brooklyn, Conn.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in Rhode Island on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Philip Hulitar Hospice Intake Center, 50 Maude St, Providence, RI 02903, would be appreciated.
