CARIBOU – Raymond A. McLaughlin Sr., 79, died unexpectedly Oct. 4, 2004, at Caribou. He was born Dec. 28, 1924, in Portland, the son of Leo and Lena (Wilcox) McLaughlin Sr. Raymond was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodland. He was a retired self-employed woodcutter for many years and was also employed by several area potato growers. He married Maxine (Barnes) McLaughlin March 22, 1946. Raymond was an avid outdoorsman who truly enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving in addition to his wife of more than 58 years, Maxine of Caribou; and one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Wendy McLaughlin of New Sweden; three daughters and a son-in-law, Judi Sprague of Anchorage, Alaska, Wanda and Markus Reynolds of New Sweden and Linda McLaughlin of Woodland; one brother, Leo McLaughlin Jr. of Caribou; four sisters, Helen McShea of Fort Fairfield, Thelma Frost, Mavis Carson and Shirley DeMoura, all of Caribou; 10 grandchildren, Terry McDuffie, Jerry McLaughlin Jr., Debbie Ouellette, Mark Skidgell, Vicki and Wendy Sprague, Brian Dube, Chad Doody, Chelsea Reynolds and McKenzie Rossignol; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Mr. McLaughlin was predeceased by a son, Raymond McLaughlin Jr.; two brothers, Charles and Fred; four sisters, Gretchen Murphy, Mabel Brown, Myrtle Sjoberg and Priscilla Drost. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at the First Baptist Church of Woodland with the Rev. Otto Palmer, officiating. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery.
