CALAIS – Kenneth W. Cavanagh, 88, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at a Calais nursing home. Kenneth was born June 11, 1917, in Calais, son of the late Wilbert T. and Jessie E. (Stewart) Cavanagh. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the Western Pacific. Kenneth was employed for many years with Western Auto in Calais. He was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Calais for over 60 years, I.O.O.F., Sherman Bros. Post 3 American Legion of Calais, and had a passion for fishing. Kenneth was predeceased by his first wife, Helen (Pike) Cavanagh; a brother, Harold Cavanagh; and a sister, Reita Townsend. Surviving are his loving wife of over 24 years, Gladys (Calder) Cavanagh of Calais; and a niece and nephew. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at Second Baptist Church, Church Street, Calais, with the Rev. Raymond L. Morse officiating. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery with military honors. A cremation service by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
