NORFOLK, Va. – Kevin Leo Kluzak, 35, died peacefully July 1, 2008, of a long-term illness. He is survived by his immensely loved wife, Amanda; son, Caleb; and best friend, Max. Kevin is also survived by his mother, Kathy; father, David; brothers, John and Jim; sister, Kristine Schnupp; and five nieces and nephews. Kevin grew up in Winthrop and graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in civil engineering in 1995. He began his career as an environmental consultant in Memphis, Tenn., before ably serving the city of Norfolk, Va., as a civil engineer. Kevin took tremendous pride in beautifying his adopted home and continued his work as a professional engineer as long as his health would allow. Kevin also loved the outdoors, especially Chesapeake Bay. As a native New Englander, Kevin proudly rooted for his Boston Celtics, New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Maine Black Bears, even in his most difficult final days. Kevin’s family, friends and coworkers will miss his inspiring generosity and courage. A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. July 5 at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions to his precocious son’s education fund may be sent to Kevin Kluzak Memorial Fund, care of Bank of America, 2022 Pleasure House Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455 or any convenient Bank of America location.
