BLAINE – L. Philip Belyea, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at a Mars Hill Nursing Home. He was born June 1, 1923, in Mars Hill, the son of Leon and Cora (Buckingham) Belyea. Philip graduated from high school in 1941 and farmed for many years as well as working as a potato inspector for 13 years. He was a member of the Orangemen’s lodge. Phil also was an avid hunter, fisherman, and camper. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lois (Benjamin) Green Belyea of Blaine; three sons, Gary Belyea of Blaine, Joel Green of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Ben Belyea and his wife, Cindy, of Winterport; five daughters, Susan Kinney and her husband, Arnold, of Blaine, Charlotte Fruciano and her husband, Joe, of Lexington, Mass.; Barbara Winne and her husband, Jon, of Elkhart, Ind., Julianna Boyd and her husband, Jay, of Mars Hill, Kelly Garrison and her husband, Steve, of Mars Hill; a sister, Marion Miller of Mars Hill; a brother, Claude and his wife, Jean, of Roxbury; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grand-children; several nieces and nephews. We all loved him dearly and will miss him very much. There will be no services at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring at East Blaine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Philip’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements in care of Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill.
