WESTERLY, R.I. – Ruth E. Bunker, 82, of The Elms in Westerly, R.I., died Wednesday morning, Jan. 28, 2004, at her residence. She was born March 7, 1921, in Laconia, N.H., the daughter of Harold and Katie Follansbee Bryar. She was the wife of the late James R. Bunker. Mrs. Bunker had been a special education teacher for the Hermon School District, retiring after 25 years. She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Peterson of Groton, Conn., and Ruth E. Lee of Kapolei, Hawaii; three sons, David Bunker of East Holden, and Stephen and Philip Bunker of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a son, Paul Bunker; a brother, Keith Bryar; and a sister, Arlene Strube. A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Groton Heights Baptist Church, 72 Broad St., Groton, Conn. Interment will be in Franklin in the spring. There will be no visiting hours.
