PRESQUE ISLE – Larry E. Cowett, 50, died Aug. 26, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born March 10, 1954, in Perth, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Everett J. and Camilla (LaVoie) Cowett. He attended the State Street Baptist Church in Presque Isle. Larry owned and operated Cowett’s Garage for many years, repairing automobiles as well as building racecars for which he was well known throughout the country. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Clark) Cowett, both of Presque Isle; daughters, Elizabeth Cowett of Celina, Ohio and Laura Cowett of Presque Isle; brothers, Dana Cowett and his wife, Sherry of Westfield, David Cowett and his wife, Christy of Wilton, Mike Cowett and his wife, Sherry, Robie Cowett and Alan Cowett, all of Presque Isle, Timmy Cowett and his wife, Nancy, of Caribou and Steven Cowett and his wife, Janice of Houlton; sisters, Terry Cowett of South Paris and Luanne Michaud and her husband, Brian, of Mapleton; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery in Aroostook New Brunswick. Larry was a firm believer in the value of education and the family requests that donations in his memory be sent to the Larry Cowett Memorial Scholarship, NMCC Foundation, 33 Edgemont Drive, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
