LISBON – Larry V. Boynton, 68, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was born July 2, 1938, in Madison, the son of Vernon and Abigail (Tiffany) Boynton. Larry attended Madison schools and was a graduate of Wentworth Institute in Boston. He served in the U.S. Army, where he attended drafting school in Fort Belvoir, Va., followed by three years of service in France. After completing his military service, Larry worked for an architectural firm in Ellsworth for 10 years, where he helped design the Maine Information Center in Kittery. In 1972, he established his own architectural practice in Ellsworth. Although he spent much of his time designing housing projects for the elderly, he also designed schools, small business offices and professional housing. He retired in 1999 and moved to Lisbon, where he and his wife opened a miniatures business. Larry’s hobbies included model railroading and golf. He loved the outdoors, hiking, canoeing and fishing. He was a charter member of the Ellsworth Elks Club and a member of the Dirigo Masonic Lodge in China. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Georgette (Hebert) Boynton; four children, four stepchildren, 16 grandchildren and two sisters. A Masonic funeral service will be held 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Dillingham & Son Memorial Chapel and Tribute Center, Auburn, with the Rev. Dodi Knight officiating. A graveside committal service with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Sept. 13, 2004, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
